提亲是正式拜访女方家庭、表达结婚心意的一种传统做法。不同家庭对见面形式和参与者的安排会有差别，有的较为郑重，有的在一起吃饭时谈起。称呼和礼节之外，这次拜访也让双方有机会听听彼此的想法，为之后的婚礼安排打开话题。
A formal visit to discuss marriage
A marriage proposal visit traditionally brings a formal expression of the intention to marry to the bride's family. Households differ in how they arrange it and who attends. It may be a formal occasion or a conversation over a meal. The visit also offers a chance for both families to hear each other's thoughts.
