Wedding Bed Preparation ·

Preparing a wedding bed can bring together family traditions and practical decisions. If you choose to include a ceremony, you can discuss which traditions matter to your families.

Singapore’s National Heritage Board describes An Chuang as a wedding-bed preparation ritual and notes that Chinese wedding practices differ among dialect groups. Treat online guides as background, then confirm your family’s preferences.

1. Agree on the occasion

If helpful, ask both families which day they have in mind, who will take part and which steps matter to them. If they want help selecting an auspicious date or conducting a ceremony, discuss that with their chosen ritual adviser.

2. Separate the ceremony list from the bedding list

Write two short lists: ceremonial items requested by your families, and the bedding you will actually use. A styled product photo can include cushions or props that are sold separately. Check the itemised contents before ordering.

3. Check the bed before choosing the set

Measure the mattress length, width and depth, plus the duvet insert and pillows. Product names such as King are not enough to confirm a fit; compare the dimensions in centimetres.

4. Plan for arrival and inspection

Use the day you need the bedding ready—not only the wedding date—as your planning deadline. Leave time to unpack, check the pieces and discuss any issue before your planned setup.

Your family conversation checklist

  • Which day will we prepare the bed?
  • Who will participate?
  • Which customs and items do both families want?
  • Where will the bed be set up?
  • When must the bedding be received and checked?

QiCai Home can help with bedding measurements and product viewing. We do not provide on-site An Chuang ceremonies or auspicious-date selection.

An Chuang questions ·

When should we prepare the wedding bed? ·

The National Heritage Board records a practice of preparing the bed three days to a week before the wedding. This is a description of a tradition, not a timetable for every household. Agree on your family's date first, then allow time for delivery, inspection and any washing before the bed is dressed.

Does the bedding have to be red? ·

If your family has a colour preference for the ceremony, discuss it before choosing. We suggest balancing that preference with what you would enjoy using afterwards. Our red collection is a style choice, not a requirement for every couple.

Can we wash the bedding before An Chuang? ·

Separate fabric care from the ceremony's timing. Follow the item's care label, and ask your family whether they prefer the bed to be dressed at a particular point. If you wash beforehand, leave enough time for the bedding to dry fully. Our bedding care guide explains the current washing and drying instructions.

Is a bedding set a complete ceremony kit? ·

No. Bedding and ceremonial items are separate. Check the product's piece list and dimensions; trays, fruit, lamps and other props are not included unless the listing says so. Any ritual items can follow your own family's arrangements.
